The Saturday Bookmark No. 2: September Arrived While I Was Not Looking

Somehow, it’s September. I’m not entirely sure when that happened. One minute I was firmly planted in August, and the next the light is changing, the mornings feel a little different, and suddenly I’m thinking about crisp air, sharpened pencils, apple cider, and all the books I want to read this fall.

September has always been my favorite month. It feels like a beginning without actually being the beginning of anything—a little reset tucked quietly into the middle of the year.

And apparently, while I was busy not noticing September arriving, the books were arriving too.

Around the Blog This Week

There’s plenty happening here this week, including new book reviews, recent reads, bookish thoughts, and probably a few detours into period dramas because I have apparently decided that books and beautifully repressed fictional men from the 1800s belong under the same roof.

And frankly, I stand by that editorial decision. Below are my favorite reviews this week:

Book Mail & Review Copies

I’ve received several books recently for review, along with a few physical copies that have made their way onto my shelves. There is something ridiculously exciting about opening book mail—even when you already know exactly what’s inside. I’ll be sharing what arrived, which books I’m especially excited about, and what you can expect to see reviewed here soon.

My TBR is, naturally, behaving as though there are approximately 47 hours in every day. There are not. I checked.

What I’m Reading

My reading tastes have been shifting a little lately, and I’m finding myself reaching more and more for stories with wonderful characters, emotional depth, slow-burn romance, and—most importantly—yearning. Give me the lingering glance. Give me the hand that almost touches hers. Give me the man standing silently across a ballroom looking like his entire emotional stability depends upon whether she smiles at him.

Apparently, this is who I am now. I’ve accepted it.

I’ll also be sharing more of the books currently sitting on my review pile and a look at what I’m hoping to read as we head further into September.

So welcome, September. You arrived considerably faster than I was prepared for—but I have books, coffee, an increasingly unreasonable TBR, and autumn on the horizon. I think we’ll get along just fine. 🍂

Happy reading, friends.

Wonderful book link-ups I enjoy—
